Parent Information
-
Swimmers should be comfortable during their swimming lesson, we suggest that swimmers wear tight fitting swimwear. Baggy swim shorts are not recommended for lessons as they can cause unnecessary drag, which can hamper progress. Babies should always wear swim nappies.
-
Goggles may be worn during swimming lessons, however you / your children will be asked to remove them for a few minutes on occasions as everyone needs to get used to water being splashed on their face and submerging their eyes under the water. Teachers are not responsible for fitting goggles during lessons and parents should ensure that they fit correctly before the lesson commences & that they meet current ‘British Standards’.
-
Swimming aids will be removed from swimmers after their lesson has ended.
-
No mobile phones / lap tops / DS games or anything with a camera are permitted in the changing rooms / on poolside.
-
Swimming Teachers are only responsible for pupils during their swimming lessons and parents and/or guardians are responsible at all other times.
-
Children must be supervised at all times and accompanied in the changing rooms by an adult or parent. Parents of children participating in swimming lessons are not permitted to leave the club or participate in a class / workout or treatment during their child’s swimming lesson/activity.
-
We request that Parents/Guardians refrain from distracting the teacher during a lesson. If Parents/Guardians wish to discuss their/their child’s lesson/teacher, please contact the Support Team
-
Footwear on the poolside is only permitted when wearing the blue pool shoe covers provided at club, high heels are to be removed.
-
Progression of all pupils will be at the judgement of the swimming teacher in accordance with the progression within the criteria of the ASA NPTS
-
Pupils will be moved during term time if they meet the skills criteria required for movement to the next stage and will not be deliberately held back until the end of the term before progressing.
Your first lesson
On paying for your /your child’s lesson you will be sent an email confirmation, please bring this with you to your first lesson and hand it to your swimming teacher.
Please bring the following to your first lesson:-
Swim wear
Goggles – if required
Towel
A big smile!
Your teacher will be expecting you. At the start of your lesson your teacher will take a register of attendance, please introduce yourself/your child to the teacher at this time. Your teacher may ask if you/your child has any medical conditions, please inform the teacher of any or feel free to pass the teacher a note if you feel more comfortable doing so. All information given will be treated confidentially.
Especially for our younger swimmers, the first couple of lesson can be a little frightening however our teaching team will do all they can to make a swimmer feel at ease, sometimes it can take up to three weeks before a swimmer begins to really enjoy their swimming lessons, this can sometimes be unsettling for parents, but stick with it as by teaching your child how to swim you are providing them with a skill which will enable them to be safe and enjoy water forever.
As the course comes to an end
You/your child will be continually assessed throughout the course, towards the end of the course; your swimming teacher will allocate you a place on the following course and issue you with any badges/attainments you/your child may have achieved.
You will then be sent an email/booking form which will give you all the details for the following course.
You will be able to pay for your next course of lessons either online or by contacting our Support Team.
We are delighted you chose to give Community Swimming Ltd and our team of teachers the opportunity to teach you/your child to swim. We take great pride in our profession, and hope that you/your child will remain with us throughout this aquatic journey.
Happy Swimming
